Soccer against Aubrey

Last week, Jayce's soccer team played against one of his very favorite friends, Aubrey's team. A couple times on the field, they were holding hands and dancing around. He just loves Aubrey. He hopes they are in the same Kindergarten class next year, but told me they would have to sit across the room from each other so they didn't talk and make the teacher mad.

Playing with Daddy

Blake is good to play with the kids before bed most nights. Usually instead of calming them down before bed he's wrestling with them and they are wild as ever. Tonight he was trying to give them all a horsey ride at the same time. The ride didn't last long enough to get a picture. They all kind of slid off the end.

Homework time

It's not a secret that I like to be organized and I like my kids to be organized. That's not to say that I am always organized. We fly by the seat of our pants a lot but we are all happier when we are organized or at least I am. I have my list of daily tasks that rotate daily in my palm pilot that I rather enjoy checking off as I complete them. I also have monthly or quarterly larger jobs that show up every so often. They tend to pile up or always be in the red. To help me organize my kids and make them more independent, Megan and Jayce have file boxes filled with pictures on cards of tasks that I want them to do each day. When they are finished with a task, they move the card behind the red "all done" card in their box. The kids earn tokens for each task they earn to exchange for a privelage. The cards keep them on task with less nagging from me. Colton likes the idea of earning tokens. He's not ready for the file box so I have his night routine in pictures and as he finishes one he takes it off the chart and puts it in an envelop in back. I just started this with him this week and he's catching on.

The Power of Prayer

For dinner tonight I made stew. As soon as Jayce saw it, the first word out of his mouth was "Yuck!" It was his turn to say the blessing on the food. In his prayer he said, "Please bless this food that it will change into eggs." Oh, the faith of little children.

Favorite Things

Do you have something that you just love and think you can't do without? Or something that you do everyday just because you love to? I love Levi jeans and Burkenstock sandles. I wear them nearly everyday. I'd hate to give them up along with chocolate and peanutbutter. Megan loves to dress up. She'd wear a dress every day if I let her. This pink dress is her favorite. It is a hand-me-down she got from a friend and it is actually too big for her. I tried to convince her to wait until she grew into it before she wore it, but it was love at first sight and there was no waiting. If she wears pants to school, as soon as she gets home, she will change into this dress if it's clean. She'd wear it dirty if I didn't make her put it in the laundry. If it's not this dress it's another, but she will always be in a dress after school unless she has soccer practice.
Along with a dress she always wants me to put her hair in a fancy updo. I am not a hair person at all. I've always had curly hair with a mind of it's own so didn't have much practice with cute styles. However, I thought this turned out pretty cute. I need to find a book on cute little girl hairstyles. What shall I do with all that hair that she wants to grow to her waist?

Picture-A-Day-In-May

It was suggested that we post a picture a day in May of daily activities and routines or things that we wish we knew about our grandparents when they were in our time of life. Not sure if I can do a picture every day but we'll see. I will probably post things that I want to remember about my kids and our daily family life. Alright, first picture: Why is the front of the drawer on the floor? Well, while I was in the shower, Jayce came running in, in histerics, saying he broke the drawer. He was afraid he was going to get in trouble. He had climbed on the counter to get a paper towel to clean up a mess he made (good boy) but when he jumped down his shorts caught the drawer handle and the force of the jump down took the front of the drawer right off. And now I think he knows why we don't climb on the counters. At least, it wasn't as bad as when he was pretending to be Spider Man and thought he'd try scaling the walls using our towel rack to give him a boost. He ripped the whole thing out of the wall and left a huge hole for Blake to fix. It was hard being without a towel rack until Blake could fix it.
